WHILE their final match of the home and away season was abandoned, Geelong’s Premier Women have booked in a qualifying final date after finishing atop the Firsts ladder of the one-day competition.

The Cats looked set to secure their ninth win of the season last weekend until heavy rain impacted their clash with Box Hill, as they made an impressive 240 runs in the first innings.

Annie Taylor top scored with an unbeaten 72 runs, whilst star Milly Illingworth added 67 in her first match of the season with the team.

The rain caused the match to be reverted to DLS format, with Box Hill set the target score of 212, however as the rain became heavier the match was forced to a halt.

Geelong now turn their attention to the home qualifying final this Sunday, 1 March, where they will face Prahran in a first vs second clash.

The two sides last faced off in Round 6, where the Cats were victorious in convincing fashion.

The Cats will also feature in semi-finals in both the Seconds and Thirds competitions, with the Seconds facing Greenvale at home and the Thirds facing Melbourne at Beaumaris Secondary College.

Thanks to their dominance across all three competitions, the Cats secured the Premier Women’s Club Championship as the home and away season concludes, edging out Melbourne by 17 points.
