Geelong Runners Club hold Virtual Run
THE Geelong Runners Club (GRC) held their first “Virtual Run” on Thursday last week.
The Virtual Run provides GRC members with a way to remain in touch and keep active without participating in the group runs that the GRC usually holds.
Their first Virtual Run saw about 30 people taking part in various places across Geelong.
GRC founder Tristan Austin said there were various ways the club was looking to maintain interaction between members while also welcoming newcomers.
“Runners can sign up on Strava where they RSVP to a run in any location on Thursday.
“Then if they’re comfortable and want to take a photo of themselves running or something like that they can tag us on Instagram or Facebook and then we can share all the pictures of everyone that completed their run.”
The club is giving out prizes for the most creative run when they hold the Virtual Run each Thursday.
In the inaugural virtual run, one of the participants cleverly set a trail that made his GPS route spell “GRC”.
People interested can sign up on Strava by searching for “Geelong Runners Club” or become a member through the club’s website at geelongrunnersclub.com.au.
