SOCCER  in regional Victoria has entered a new chapter, with multiple former associations transitioning under Football Victoria as part of a new unified statewide structure.

Football Geelong will now be named Football Victoria Geelong and will continue to support clubs and the local football community as a Regional Advisory Panel of Football Victoria.

The new model brings most regional locations in Victoria together in the one structure, which aims to strengthen club support and improve administration to ultimately create a deeper football connection across the state.

For Geelong, the change reinforces a strong structure that has been built across many years, with the close collaboration between Football Geelong and Football Victoria to continue to grow.

Chair of the Football Victoria Geelong Regional Advisory Panel, Mike McKinstry, is excited for this next phase of soccer in the area.

“Football in Geelong has a proud history built by our clubs, volunteers and community,” he said.

“This new statewide structure strengthens our connection with Football Victoria while ensuring our region continues to have a strong voice in shaping the future of the game.

“We’re looking forward to continuing to work alongside our clubs to grow participation, support development and create the best possible football environment for players, coaches and volunteers across the Geelong region.”

Plans are already under way to bolster coming seasons through a continued alliance between regional towns and Football Victoria.
