Geelong spinner Stow signed by Renegades
GEELONG Cricket Club’s Callum Stow has been added to the Melbourne Renegades squad for Big Bash League season 14.
The 22-year-old left-arm spin bowler has been signed as a Local Replacement Player.
Stow has been under the watchful eye of new coach Cameron White following a run of impressive form in Premier Cricket.
This earned him a spot in Cricket Victoria’s next gen Targeted Rookie Program.
Stow will take over the spot in the Renegades lineup occupied by Nathan Lyon, who will not be available for the first half of the BBL due to international commitments.
“It’s an amazing opportunity and I’m so excited to join the ‘Gades and get a taste of Big Bash cricket,” Stow said.
“It’s been a huge week so far, I’ve got a few training sessions under my belt.
“I’m excited for what’s to come, hopefully I can impress enough and put my name up for selection.”
Melbourne Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said Stow’s signing was a testament to his hard work and talent.
“Callum’s application to his craft since he’s been in the Cricket Victorian system has been exceptional and we’ve loved what we’ve seen.
“He’s absolutely deserving of his spot, and we can’t wait for the energy and skills he can bring to the team for this campaign.”
The Renegades played their second match of the season yesterday (Thursday, December 19) at GMHBA Stadium against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Their next game is against the Perth Scorchers at Marvel Stadium this Monday.
