THE PRESTIGIOUS Rip Curl GromSearch series will head back to where it all started back at Jan Juc in 1999 this September school holidays.

The September 16 and 17 event kickstarts the 2023 Rip Curl GromSearch Australian series and will bring together more than 100 of the best junior surfers from across the country to surf with their friends and gain valuable surfing experience.

From humble beginnings as a single day event in 1999, the Rip Curl GromSearch series has since grown into a worldwide surfing series providing surfers with the opportunity to test their skills against the best junior talent.

The series has been key in forging a pathway to stardom for many of the world’s best surfers, including WSL world champions Stephanie Gilmore, Tyler Wright, Gabriel Medina, Filipe Toledo and Carissa Moore.

Rip Curl event manager Mark Flanagan said the excitement was high to be returning to Jan Juc this September.

“The Rip Curl GromSearch is run all over the surfing world and we’re stoked to start the Australian series over the school holidays.

“We look forward to welcoming competitors from all over the country to the GromSearch series and want to continue to provide Australian junior surfers with epic events that contribute to the development of young athletes.”

Surfers will be able to enter Under 16, Under 14 and Under 12 age groups.

The top three competitors in each age group will be guaranteed a spot in the National Final later this year.

Entries for the Victorian event will open on August 1 via www.surfingvic.com/
