Heads survive scare to remain undefeated, Bulls into top four
BARWON Heads have survived a day one scare to remain undefeated after defending their lowest total of the BPCA1 season against Queenscliff.
The Seagulls were all out for just 187 on day one, however three wicket each from Sema Kamea, Daniel Donaldson and Angus Mackie saw them steady on day two and bowl the Coutas out for 152 to secure the win.
The victory is their 10th of the season, putting them four games ahead of the second-placed Anglesea.
Barrabool have moved into the top four after an impressive win over reigning premiers Armstrong Creek.
The Bulls restricted the Titans to 190 runs in the first innings, which they chased down with six wickets in hand thanks to unbeaten scores of 85 and 60 from Luke Clift and Kane Pickering.
Armstrong Creek are now second last, but are still just three points off fourth place.
Anglesea cruised to a victory over Jan Juc on day two thanks to a fierce bowling effort that saw the Sharks skittled for a measly 80 runs – over 120 shy of their target.
Roos skipper Dylan Taylor led the way with five wickets in the win which saw Jan Juc drop down to sixth on the ladder.
Drysdale claimed a crucial win over Inverleigh, which keeps them in the hunt for a finals berth and simultaneously puts the Kookaburras down to outright last.
It was a team effort by the Hawks, with five different individual wicket-takers holding Inverleigh to 159 runs.
This weekend will see Inverleigh host Queenscliff, Drysdale host Barwon Heads, Anglesea host Barrabool and Armstrong Creek host Jan Juc.
In the BPCA2, Ocean Grove will host Newcomb, Surf Coast will host Collendina, Winchelsea will host Portarlington and St Leonards will host Wallington.
