JAN Juc Boardriders will need to wait until next month before taking on the country’s best surfing clubs at the Australian Boardriders Battle National Final.

The event will now be held on April 12 and April 13 following the event’s postponement due to Cyclone Alfred.

The club will be represented in Burleigh Heads by former Rip Curl Pro Trials winner Tim Stevenson, Cooper Downes, Carly Shanahan, Tim Birnie and Dom Kellett.

Jan Juc Boardriders will head to the Australian Boardriders Battle National Final next month.

Fresh off winning the club’s open men’s division at the Summer Classic, Downes said excitement was high heading into the national event.

“It’s amazing that we’ve qualified. We are just a local family club for a bit of fun. For us to accidentally qualify for the final just shows the depth of the club. We are stoked!

“We’ve been training hard for that run up the hill at Burleigh. We’ve been going to the Southside hills. Luckily, no one has done a hammy. “We are ready!”

Downes said it was pretty cool to see himself and his club-mates plastered on a Torquay billboard in the lead up to the event.

The billboard, which is run by advertising agency Gawk Outdoor, featured a good luck message to the club.

13th Beach Boardriders will also represent the state at Burleigh Heads after finishing second at the state qualifying event in October 2024.

They will be pitted against Seaford, North Narrabeen, Snapper Rocks, Maroubra and Bungan in Round 1.

Jan Juc will face off against Burleigh Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay, Avoca and Merewether in its first heat.
