JAN Juc Boardriders are embracing the opportunity of being the only local club to qualify for the 2026 Australian Boardriders Battle National Final.
The local surfing club, which celebrates its tenth year in 2026 has its sights set on making its community proud with its efforts on the Gold Coast.
Led by open club champions Kai Nudd and Carly Shanahan, the squad also commprises 2024 club champion Cooper Downes, Tim Birnie, former CT competitor Tim Stevenson and junior Dom Kellett.
Club president Dane Carollo said preparations were coming along really well for the 7-8 March event.
“Everyone is super excited for what is to come in the next couple of weeks,” he said.
“Competing in the ABB for a second straight year is a great achievement in itself and we are so stoked to be able surf on a national scale against the country’s best clubs.
“We aim to do the best we can, support each other and ultimately have fun.”
The surfing squad will be selected based on conditions and surfers’ strengths.
Carollo said the team has the ultimate tune-up competing in a teams event on the Mornington Peninsula just last month.
Jan Juc walked away with a second place against a strong contingent of Phillip Island and Mornington Peninsula surfers.
“We were stoked with that result, it’s a good lead in to the ABB and getting used to competing together as one,” Carollo said.
