THE weekend saw both the GCA and BCPA teams finish of their two-day matches.

In the GCA division 1 Leopold managed to chase down their target of 258 to defeat Grovedale and earn their second win of the season.

This was largely thanks to an incredible unbeaten 204 run partnership between captain Corey Ogle and David Ford.

Their partnership is the highest in the division so far, as both Ogle and Ford finished unbeaten on 104.

Ford said he was delighted to have played his role in guiding the team to a win.

“It was good to put on a big stand with the captain. Coming in at 3/54, it was quite pleasing to be able to get the total without losing another wicket.”

In GCA’s Division 2 Torquay’s Thomas Dunn also made 104 but finished on the losing side as Torquay fell 27 runs short of St Peter’s 250. Dunn is the fifth highest run-scorer in the league despite having only played four of the six matches.

In the BCPA Anglesea remain undefeated despite a spirited performance by Collendina. Anglesea ended up passing Collendina’s 104 and going on to finish 9/150. However, if not for Simon Umbers 53 they may have struggled. Yet Anglesea not only remain top but
also have an impressive percentage of 2.5112.

Ocean Grove are in second after defeating Jan Juc by 88 runs. Both Daniel Roddis and Thomas Kent ended with figures of 3/46, helping ensure Jan Juc were bowled out for 198.

Barwon Heads had no problem chasing down Queenscliff’s 152, ending 3/237 in overs. Lewis Hyland scored a duck against Queenscliff in the opening round, but on this occasion was in sensational form, scoring an unbeaten 128. Hyland is now the second highest
run-scorer in the division, but is still well behind Kane Pickering, whose double-century last week allowed Barrabool to try to force an outright victory over Portarlington.

Finn Peel took 5/39 to see Portarlington fall for 114 in their first innings. But Barrabool fell three wickets short of picking up the extra points as Portarlington finished their second innings 7/101.

In the BCPA A2 grade Inverleigh did manage an outright victory. Locke Perrett was particularly impressive, taking five wickets in each of Little River’s innings.

St Leonards also managed to outright defeat Wallington, with Cam Egan starring with 11 wickets for the game.

Armstrong Creek also managed to outright defeat Newcomb.
