Local lifesavers dominate Aussies

LOCAL lifesavers have brought home more than 30 medals from the 2025 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships on the Gold Coast.

Competitors from Torquay, Anglesea, Ocean Grove, Fairhaven, Jan Juc, Lorne and Wye River were amongst those to land on the podium.

More than 7,000 competitors from 314 clubs took part in more than 500 beach and surf events during the seven-day competition.

 

Anglesea’s Bonnie McCarroll won six medals of her own, claiming gold in Youth Female Beach Flags, 70m Beach Sprint and Wade Race, and silver in the Adaptive – Youth Female 500m Run, Board Race and Surf Race.

Tristan Read from Lorne won silver in the 50-54 Male 2km Open Swim and bronze in the 50–54-year Ironman.

 

Torquay lifesaver Rori Reyntjes won two bronze medals in Open Female Long Board Riding and U/19 Female Surf Board Riding.

LSV congratulated all Victorian winners on their huge achievement.

 

“Lifesaving sport plays a key role in keeping volunteer lifesavers rescue-ready for the Summer Patrol Season, and is a fantastic opportunity for club members to come together and build connections with other clubs and members.
