Local talent to represent Victoria at Aussie Junior Titles

MORE than a dozen local surfers will represent the state at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Wollongong, New South Wales later this month.

The Australian Surfing Titles will be held from November 24 to December 1 and feature more than 100 of Australia’s best junior surfers from Under 12s to Under 18s.

Competitors in all divisions will by vying for a coveted national title, while the winners of the U/18 Girls and Boys will also earn a spot on the Irukandjis team to represent Australia at the ISA World Junior Championships.

The 14 local surfers slated to appear are Barwon Heads pair Max Bassett and Jerry Kelly, Jan Juc locals Juliet Muscroft, Remy Filer, Jarvis Barrow, Jack Lindsay, Dom Kellett, Chloe Muscroft, Cedar Davie, Harlem Pec, Samuel Abetz and Estella Carbonelli and Torquay’s Liam Thomson and Anise Pruvot.

 

Max Bassett will be representing Victoria in the U/18 Boys division.

 

Surfing Victoria chief executive officer Adam Robertson wished competitors the best of luck.

“The opportunity to be a part of the Victorian Junior Team is a massive honour for the up-and-coming junior surfers of Victoria.

“Not only having the opportunity to showcase their surfing on a national level but to also travel and truly be a part of team Victoria certainly brings out the best in many of the kids.

“The ability to make lifelong friends through these types of trips highlights the value of the many programs, events and coaching sessions that all lead to events like the Australian Junior Titles and being a part of the Victorian Junior team.”
