Lorne sweeps the podium

January 18, 2018 BY

JANUARY 7 saw the first Senior Surf Lifesaving Carnival of the year take place at Anglesea Beach from 8am.

Events were run across all disciplines, including board, swim, flags, rescue, ski and surf boats.

Local athletes at Lorne Surf Lifesaving Club competing in the Surf Boat division took on the choppy surf and tough competition, coming away with some unbeatable results.

The Lorne Edge team placed first in the Open Women’s, Lorne 31s placed first in the Open Men’s, Lorne Atics placed first in Reserve Women, UniLornes placed second in Reserve Women and the WASAVICs placed second in the Reserve Men.

A special mention should be made to Tim Nesbitt who swept the UniLornes – who have jumped in the boat just this season – in his first carnival on the sweep oar.

Lorne SLSC is always looking for new rowers, particularly Juniors for the under 19 and under 23 divisions. No experience is necessary.

For more information or to give it a try, phone Surf Boat Captain Geoff Matthews on 0419 515 273, or visit the website at lornesurfclub.com.au.
