July 17 was the starting date for the new season of Tennis Geelong’s midweek ladies tennis, and what a wild and windy day it was – no rain delays, but later on it bucketed down.

From right across the Greater Geelong region, the ladies gathered to play, enjoy the camaraderie that is quite unique among midweekers and tuck into a cuppa and afternoon tea after the match.

This season sees 10 grades competing, with all eight-team sections, equating to 320 players and that doesn’t include emergency players.

Tennis In Geelong went along to matches at Clifton Springs and Moolap to get some good photos of the midweeker’s first matches for the season.
