Morgan Griggs-Kennelly returns for Australian Surf Championships
MORGAN Griggs-Kennelly recently competed in the 2019 Australian Surf Championships, held across the Tweed Coast in New South Wales.
Griggs-Kennelly took part in the Australian Longboard Titles, narrowly missing first spot in her heat during round one, and then finishing third in her heat in the second round.
Having taken a two-year break from competitive surfing, Griggs-Kennelly said she was glad to be back in the water and competing in the national championships for her fourth time.
“This year’s national titles was a good learning curve for me. It was nice to see all the girls again and compete again in that kind of environment.”
Poor conditions meant there was little surfers could do to truly show their skills in the second round.
But Griggs-Kennelly says having now returned to competitive surfing she is eager to continue forwards.
“I hope to go back to competing interstate more and hopefully have a go at the World Tour and try to make that group of women that travel the world and compete professionally for the longboard tour.”
