My Big Catch: Designs released for Queenscliff boat ramp

June 18, 2020 BY

Whiting fishing legend Rose Riberu caught this nice whiting off the pier at Lorne recently.

THE state Labor Government has released the final concept design for the Queenscliff boat ramp upgrade, which will make it easier for boaters to get out on the water than ever before.
Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford revealed the design that includes more boat ramp lanes, new pontoons and separate kayak access, as well as 89 marked parking spaces for cars and boat trailers.
“We’ve listened to boaters about how they want the Queenscliff boat ramp to look and feel and now we’re delivering it,” Ms Pulford said.
“We’re committed to improving boating facilities across the state and these upgrades will make it easier and safer for more people to get out on the water.”
Better Boating Victoria worked closely with the Queenscliff community to develop the final design, which will improve the overall safety of the facility, with better traffic flow and safer pedestrian access.
Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said the improvements were important for locals who wanted to get out on the water and enjoy everything the beautiful waters off Queenscliff have to offer.
A reference group will be established to help ensure ongoing community engagement during the upgrade. The structure and the terms of reference for this group will be worked through in the coming weeks.
This upgrade is part of the Labor Government’s $47.2 million investment to improve boating facilities across the state and is one of six priority locations that will be upgraded to meet recreational boating demands as Melbourne’s population grows.
Construction is expected to get under way next year.
