New golf membership deals at The Sands

THE Sands Resort Torquay has changed their golf membership structure to help increase their numbers.

Members receive year-round access to the 18-hole, par 72 course, along with several new perks.

Membership includes six- or seven-days playing rights, depending on the category, as well as free pull buggy hire, the option to bring up to three friends at membership guest fees, driving range and practice facility access, and access to reciprocal clubs.

Acting golf operations manager Frank Myers said the health of the club was good despite the coronavirus pandemic.

“This time last year we were averaging 440 rounds per week, we are now averaging over 1,000.”

This was partially because while many other clubs were reopening to members only, The Sands opened to the public as well.

Mr Myers said a lot of newcomers to the club had expressed an eagerness to return.

“People are coming down and playing, and they’re really loving the course, loving the experience, and they’re now looking to join.

“The course is in really good condition. Keegan (Powell) and his team have done an extremely good job. He’s got the course looking a million dollars, the greens are absolutely fantastic.

“To present the course so well week in week out, with the amount of play that’s on it, speaks volumes about the work he and his team are doing.”
