OGFNC excited to field women’s football team
OCEAN Grove Football Netball Club will be one of 12 clubs from AFL Barwon fielding a women’s football team next year.
Ocean Grove ran a hugely successful girl’s football debut season this year, which saw the club field three U12 teams and one U15 team – a total of 74 local girls.
The interest in female football keeps growing and the club is excited to offer women an opportunity to play AFL.
Many women who responded to social media posts inviting expressions of interest to play next year said that they never thought they would be given the opportunity to play, and were excited about the club giving women’s football a go.
Ocean Grove will be running a “Try Day” for girls and women on Sunday, November 26 at the Shell Road oval.
U12s and U15s are at 1pm, and U19 and senior ladies at 2pm.
Anyone interested in playing in 2018 is encouraged to come along and have ago.
The club also encourages all returning junior girls to come along too.
Meanwhile, OGFNC is seeking an experienced coach for its senior women’s football team.
Coaches can submit their expression of interest stating relevant coaching and playing experience, coaching qualifications, personal coaching philosophy statement and any other relevant information to women’s football co-ordinator Lisa Robinson at [email protected].
Remuneration will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
