EAST Geelong and Bell Post Hill will clash for a GDFL grand final spot in tomorrow’s (Saturday, September 13) preliminary final.

The Eagles, who finished the year as minor premiers, were toppled by North Geelong at

St Albans Reserve in the qualifying final and now have a second chance at their first flag since 2009.

East Geelong entered the last quarter tied with the Magpies, but only managed one goal from there to go down by 18 points. It is North Geelong’s first Grand Final berth in 10 years.

Meanwhile, the Panthers knocked Belmont out in straight sets thanks to a third quarter eight goal blitz that set up their 29-point triumph. A win over the Eagles this weekend would see them reach the Grand Final for the first time in eight years.

East Geelong were victorious when the two sides last played in Round 16, winning by four goals. They also beat the Panthers in Round 5 by 11 goals.

Since that game in Round 16, Bell Post Hill have posted a 3-1 record and East Geelong went 2-1.
