The blockbuster men’s football final between Olympic hosts France and Spain has plenty riding on it: France looking to win their first Olympic title in 40 years, while Spain will try to go one better on their Tokyo silver.

Algeria’s Imane Khelif will be looking to silence her haters and shift the spotlight by winning Olympic gold in her women’s welterweight boxing final against China’s Yang Liu.

Defending Olympic champions the Netherlands will be looking to go back-to-back against China in the women’s hockey final.

SILVER

Moesha Johnson (women’s marathon swim) – Johnson is now Australia’s most successful Olympic marathon swimmer after winning silver just behind the Netherlands’ Sharon van Rouwendaal in a dramatic finish.

Riley Fitzsimmons, Jackson Collins, Pierre van der Westhuyzen and Noah Havard (men’s K4 500m kayak sprint) – The boys have clinched an Olympic silver medal edged out by sprint kayak powerhouse Germany.

BRONZE

Charlie Senior (men’s 57kg boxing) – At just the age of 22, the young British-born boxer has won an Olympic bronze in his debut Games, going down to Uzbekistan’s Abdumalik Khalokov in the semi-final.

Caitlin Parker – (women’s 75kg boxing) – Australia’s boxing team captain failed to knock down China’s Li Qian in the semi-final but will be happy to come away with a bronze.

OTHER HEADLINE GOLD MEDALLISTS

American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has smashed her own 400m hurdles world record and destroyed Dutch rival Femke Bol to win Olympic gold a classy style.

Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has made history for his country, becoming the first ever Pakistani Olympic track and field champion and grabbing Pakistan’s first medal in 32 years by taking out top spot in the men’s javelin.

WHAT ELSE HAPPENED

Australia’s best chance at another athletics Olympic gold medal is through to the women’s 1500m final as Jessica Hull declares that she has a legitimate chance of pinching the top spot on the podium.

The Aussie Stingers have pulled off a major upset, beating three-time defending champions the United States in a dramatic penalty shootout 14-13 to make their way into the gold medal match.
