Pink Stumps Day a success in Anglesea
THE second annual Pink Stumps Day matchup between Anglesea and Corio has been hailed a major success, raising more than $3,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
The event at Elimatta Reserve aimed to raise vital funds to support breast cancer and broader cancer research in Australia.
Competition was strong out on the field, with both teams putting on their best performances in their pink uniforms.
Anglesea however was victorious in both matches, with Tyron Norman and Viji Udayashankar taking out player of the game honours.
The strong crowd also got to hear from guest speakers, including Surf Coast Shire mayor Mike Bodsworth and Carley Little, who spoke about her breast cancer journey.
Anglesea’s Trenton Little said it was a fantastic day all round.
“As a club we are very proud of the two cricket communities for the way they turned out and put on a really good show.
“We wanted to raise more than last year, and early indications have shown we have probably done it.
“It was great to get the two full 20/20 matches in, despite the weather.”
