Point Lonsdale Tennis Club’s grand opening
GRAND indeed! ’Lonsdale’s freshly-laid Modgrass and revamped lighting is a sight to behold and the opening ceremony (May 14) paid tribute to the hard work and dedication that went into making it all happen!
In attendance was a crowd of more than 50, including club members, special guests, sponsors and volunteers, along with Tennis In Geelong’s Phil Hunt, all enjoying some glorious autumn weather, with some passionate players hitting up on the new courts.
Club president Ian Britton made his introduction, outlining the club’s progress, including a new web page, a strategic plan currently underway, a full health and safety audit, along with a business plan set to take the club to the next level in the years ahead. It’s certainly all happening at Point Lonsdale.
There was to be a webpage address, but typically, when you want technology to work, it doesn’t! Tennis Victoria’s Adam Crameri and Bellarine MP Lisa Neville spoke enthusiastically about the club and its ongoing pursuit of excellence, with the four new courts and wonderful lighting the big feature. It’s worth mentioning that the club funded the whole courts and light project themselves.
With close to 600 members, Point Lonsdale can rightly be considered a quite large club, with many of its members from
Melbourne and beyond, along with a staunch group of local tennis aficionados.
Next project? Resurfacing the remaining two courts in Modgrass and lighting those courts as well, followed by clubhouse refurbishment and extensions. Yes, it’s all happening at Point Lonsdale Tennis Club. Lonsdale enquiries? Phone 0419 688 223 or email [email protected].
