Portarlington Golf Club – November 9, 2017
ONE of the great initiatives of our chief executive Ron Stockdale over recent years has been the members draw club night on Wednesdays, when a jackpot builds up from $1,000 by $200 per week until someone present is drawn out to win the cash.
The jackpot, together with the carvery roast meal offered at only $17, brings great attendances on a regular basis. Membership (hence eligibility to win the cash) encompasses not only the golf members, but also the social “Ultimate” members who can get two years membership for only $20, with other discounts and entitlements attached. This week the jackpot reaches the magical $3,000, well worth a fun night out with friends whether we win or not. A similar format occurs now on Friday nights as well, with courtesy bus available on both evenings to ferry those to and from the club who prefer to leave the car at home.
Tuesday October 31, Men’s 4BBB Stableford Multiplier
A field of 137 men put their arithmetic skills to the test with this novelty event. The pair that got it right were Dennis Murphy and Malcolm McGreachan who managed 79 points, with Steve Cogger and Peter O’Neill next with 78. Ian Davis and Darren Orr were 3rd with 74, one point clear of the final voucher winners, Steve Cole and Rod Gurney. The NTP winners were Matt Salter, Graham Vohmann and Max Edmanson, who also eagled the 11th.
