Saturday December 23: Men’s and Ladies Stableford
Of the 154 men on the course, Peter Bird sang the loudest with an incredible 45 points to take out Trophy of the Day and D Grade from Clive Allinson’s 39. Lloyd Shepherd topped the C Graders with 43 ahead of Dennis Murphy’s 40, best B Grader was Phil Stephens with 43 a point clear of Ritchie Howells, and Phill Toyne’s 39 headed the A Graders on a countback from Brian Kelly. The NTPs were won by Rex Johnson, Lloyd Shepherd and Dave Ash, and the ProPin by John Rowe. There were also 26 Ladies playing, and best of them was Gweneth Barnett with 40 edging out Pat Peacock and Jeanette Johnson on a countback. Jacky Rowe and Sandy Issell got the NTPs and Sandy also pocketed the ProPin cash.
Boxing day: Men’s and Ladies’ Stableford
After the Christmas Day festivities, golf was not high on the agenda of some, but we still had 97 men and three ladies (does that tell us something?) participating. John Kennedy led the field from start to finish with 42 points, also winning A Grade from Craig Finnemore with 39. B Grade winner was visitor Vlade Bozinovski with 41, on a countback from Kevin Carter, a 39 by James Finch topped C Grade by a point from John Wootten, and Ian Morris and Geoff Strachan both scored 40 to head the D Graders. Best lady was Sam Jones from 13th Beach with 34. The NTPs were scored by Joel Launer, Matt Salter and Phil Stephens, and the ProPin by Matt Burr.
Wednesday December 27: Ladies Stableford
A field of 22 ladies surfaced from their Christmas festivities to get their mind on other things, and Julie Jackson did it best with an excellent 42 points to easily head the field from Chris Trezise on 39 and Pat Worsley on 38.
Saturday December 30: Men’s and Ladies Stableford
Blustery, cool conditions didn’t deter a huge turnout of 191 men and 30 ladies to the day’s event. Top of the table was Arthur Johnson with a score of 44 points, to also win C Grade from a 40 by Cameron Place. A Grade star was Michael Price with 42 from Andrew Wootten’s 40, John Rowe not only scored the ProPin again, but also had a 43 to top B Grade by a point from Peter Garlick, and Ray Brownhill was best D Grader with 40 from Tony McLeod’s 39. The NTPs were very close with such a large field, the winners being Sean Walton, Matt Salter and Matthew Kelly. Best lady was Lynne Kirby with 39 on a countback from Jan Cogger.
