MORE than 30 of the state’s best longboard surfers enjoyed pristine surf conditions at Point Impossible for the annual Victorian Old Mal and Logger titles at the weekend.

The annual event hosted by Southern Union Ocean of Longboarders (SOUL) was headlined by its showstopping old malibu category featuring boards from pre-1968.

Competitors also rode newer boards in a straight single fin logger division.

SOUL president Lachy Fletcher said conditions and vibes were sky high.

“We had really fun waves all day. Clean and about shoulder high as the tide dropped; it got really fun.

“Highlights were definitely Tim Edwards and Tommy Fahey getting scores in the nines.

“It’s always awesome to see the skill and finesse guys and girls manage to have on these old mals.

“We look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”

Point Lonsdale style master Tim Edwards completed the double in the Over 45 Old Mal and Open Logger.

Tom Fahey was one of the standouts on the day.

The women’s division was won by Kelly Goddard, while the Under 45 Logger was taken out by Mornington Peninsula young gun Tom Fahey.

SOUL will hold their next club competition on July 20.
