RACV Torquay Resort to host Ladbrokes Pro-Am
MORE of Australia’s rising golfing talent will be coming to Torquay in a little under a year, with RACV Torquay Resort to host a leg of the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series.
The series is a national event platform for both professional and amateur golfers.
A feeder tour for the PGA Tour of Australasia, the pro-am season hosts tournaments across the country as well as overseas in countries such as New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, with close to 200 events run at local golf clubs.
RACV Torquay Resort will host the last event of the 2018 tour on December 16. Prize money is yet to be confirmed.
The resort’s 18-hole, par-71 course was redeveloped by Ogilvy Clayton – the Melbourne design team headed by former US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy and former Victorian tournament professional Mike Clayton.
The other local stops in next year’s Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series are the $11,000 Maddie’s Day on the Purple Pro-Am at Clifton Springs Golf Club on January 14, the $11,000 The Sands Pro-Am at Peppers The Sands Resort on January 24 and the $15,000 Barwon Cleaning Supplies Portarlington Pro-Am at Portarlington Golf Club on February 6.
This year, Peppers The Sands Resort and the Clifton Springs, Curlewis, Portarlington and Geelong golf clubs were all part of the tour.
RACV made the announcement of RACV Torquay Resort’s inclusion on the Ladbrokes Pro-Am Series earlier this month as part of an expanded partnership between RACV and PGA of Australia.
“RACV members will now be able to experience premier golf opportunities in their home state as well as enjoy exclusive RACV Golf member benefits,” RACV managing director and chief executive officer Neil Taylor said.
