BARWON Heads is aiming for a much improved performance against Torquay this weekend, who they lost to by 73 points in BFL Round 3.

The pair meet at 2.15pm tomorrow (Saturday, June 21) at the Seagulls’ Howard Harmer Oval.

“They got a hold of us in Round 3 out there,” coach Sam Schaller said.

“They were coming off two losses, one against Newcomb, which they obviously weren’t too happy about.

“This time around, we’re just looking to make sure that we can control the things that we control well, like we did on the weekend against Drysdale.

“Our effort was great. Our contest work was really good and just getting first hands on the ball.

“There’s no doubting how good they are. They’ve been the benchmark for the last few years.

Barwon Heads’ Kallum Hinchcliffe kicks long.

“So we’ll have to be as good as we were last Saturday, if not better, to make sure we get the right result.”

The Seagulls beat Drysdale by 43 points in Round 10 after kicking 4.2 to 0.2 in the second stanza.

Luke Davis, Finn Cornell and Zach Walter featured in the best while Jack Henderson booted four goals.

The sixth-placed Seagulls have had an up and down season.

They beat Queenscliff by one goal in Round 2 before losing to the Coutas by 28 points a fortnight ago.

Meanwhile, they have suffered narrow defeats to Geelong Amateur, Anglesea and Modewarre.

In other Round 11 matches, Drysdale host Queenscliff in a blockbuster, Ocean Grove have Anglesea, Portarlington welcome Modewarre and Newcomb duel Geelong Ammos.
