BARWON Heads have secured a day one victory over Drysdale after a commanding performance in Round 13 of the BPCA1.

Five wickets from Darcy Hewitt saw the Seagulls skittle the Hawks for just 81 runs, with an unbeaten 45 from opener Angus Mackie then putting the away side up by 16 runs to finish the day.

Day two will see Barwon Heads chase an outright win and push even further ahead of the competition. They are four games clear of second-placed Anglesea.

An unbeaten 111 runs from Matthew Kennedy has seen Armstrong Creek begin their clash with Jan Juc in strong fashion.

The Titans finished the day at 8/236, leaving the Sharks a tough task to win and keep their finals aspirations alive.

A loss for either side will make a semi-final berth almost impossible.

Queenscliff have made a fast start to their clash with Inverleigh, finishing the day at 7/283 thanks to 92 runs from opener Lochie Philp.

Should the Coutas continue their dominance on day two, they can all but lock in a finals berth. Meanwhile, the Kookaburras face an uphill battle to move off the bottom of the ladder.

Anglesea and Barrabool are locked into what could be a tight contest, with the Roos finishing all out for 179.

Opener Tyron Norman led the way with 68 runs and Bulls bowler James Jirik took five wickets.

A win for Anglesea would confirm a finals spot, while Barrabool can cement their position in the top four with one round to play should they chase down the gettable total.
