THE South Coast Sharks are hopeful mateship, camaraderie and respect can pave the way to a three peat of state championships in 2026.

The local masters football side have their eyes firmly set on the gold once again at the AFL Masters Victoria Country tournament come September.

Heading into their third season in the Vic Country Masters Football League, the Sharks will field a team in both the Over 35 and Over 45 competitions.

Led by new president Paul Snow and coaches Luke Vasello and Darren “Podgey” Morrish, the family friendly club has attracted a whopping 138 players.

Mr Snow said much of the success thus far could be put down to the camaraderie and mateship which has spread rapidly between the pack.

“Its really humbling experience to lead an amazing bunch of blokes like this,” he said.

“We are a bunch of real community blokes who do a lot for each other. There’s a really strong bond, and we know there’s something super special here.

“What I’ve really noticed is that if anyone is ever struggling with their personal or professional life, or even their health, the bunch of guys band together.

“There’s so many amazing guys and personalities to lean on at all times and its just got us in such an amazing space heading into 2026.”

Over 45’s coach Luke Vasello said winning a third premiership in September in Shepperton would be the icing on the cake of what has been an amazing start to the club’s existence.

“We’ve got so many guys who just want to play, and to be honest, it’s become more than just a footy club like Snowy has eluded too.

“We’ll face off against all the best from across the state and hopefully we can come out with the chocolates.”

The Vic Country Masters Football League will kick off in April, with between 8-12 games to be played in a round robin format.

The matchups will then determine seedings for the Victorian State Championships later in the year.
