Spring Racing Season Returns To Geelong
The Geelong Racing Club is delighted to welcome back Lucy and Ruby Brownless as ambassadors of the 2017 bet365 Geelong Cup.
In 2016, Lucy and Ruby generated huge interest in their debut as event ambassadors.
This year, the popular models, now 21 and 19 respectively, along with media identities will return home to lead the OUR CUP OUR TOWN campaign, and again judge Westfield Geelong Fashions on the Field.
“This year we’re excited about seeing Geelong come together for a big day of racing and fashion,” Lucy said. “We’re looking forward to seeing some exciting, confident style choices.
“The Geelong Cup is always such a great opportunity to have some fun with spring fashion.”
In addition to championing spring racing fashion at the event, the pair intend to visit each marquee, mingle with punters and generally encourage event attendees to enjoy a great day.
Geelong Racing Club chief executive Daniel Salter said the club was looking forward to another big cup day.
“This year, we really want to acknowledge the people who contribute to the bet365 Geelong Cup as well as attend it,” he said.
“It’s Geelong’s event, and it really is down to the people of Geelong who make it happen.
“From a racing perspective, we’re looking forward to a top-class field of local and international runners. Let’s hope we see a Geelong Cup/Melbourne Cup double again this year.”
Qewy, an eight-year-old bay gelding from Ireland, will be back to defend his title at the Geelong Cup this year.
New to this year’s event is Little Geelong, an entertainment precinct offering pop up versions of the city’s finest local food and beverage offerings, live music, big screens and Westfield Geelong Fashions on the Field.
Little Geelong promises to be a new hotspot for general admission ticket holders, who will be able to watch the racing on big screens, while enjoying the complimentary outdoor tables and seating.
