ST MARY’S will be looking to avenge their recent narrow loss to St Josephs when they take on the ladder leaders at Herne Hill Reserve this weekend in the GFL.The key matchup between first and third headlines Round 12 after a bye weekend for all sides except Lara and St Albans.
St Joeys beat the Saints 16.15 (111) to 16.10 (106) in a high scoring thriller in round six, and fans will be hoping to be treated to another classic between the two sides on Saturday (July 19th).
Leopold will take on South Barwon at Leopold Memorial Park in another finals-shaping match. The seventh-placed Lions, following at loss at the hands of St Mary’s before the bye, will need a win against the fifth-placed Swans to keep their hopes of a three-peat alive.
Geelong West will host a red-hot Bell Park at West Oval, with the Dragons looking to build off impressive wins against Leopold and Newtown & Chilwell heading into the final seven weeks of the season.
Fourth-placed Colac will travel to St Albans Reserve to play the Supersaints, who are coming off a 151-point thrashing over a struggling Lara outfit.
Lara will look to bounce back from their disappointing performance against St Albans as they take on the tenth-placed Grovedale at Burdoo Reserve, a match they will have circled on the calendar as a potential winner.
Newtown & Chilwell will look to capitalise on a favourable run home, with the second-placed Eagles taking on North Shore at Windsor Park.
All round 12 matches will start at 2.10pm.
