BELLARINE Storm is one win off matching its win total from last season, but Luke Beuglehall’s men will have their work cut out for them this week going up against Wyndham.

The Storm, who tallied three total wins in 2023, are off to a promising start to 2024, snatching two wins from their opening five games of the campaign.

“We’re still in a really good place even though we’re 2-3 at the moment, our self-belief and what we can produce is up there with the best in the league,” Beuglehall said.

“When it does all fall into place, it’s going to be really fun to watch and be part of.

“It’s been a good start to the season, we’re seeing things going into place that we’ve been practicing during training, everything seems to be going in the right direction.”

Wyndham has not dropped a game yet this season, sitting at the top of the Championship ladder 5-0 and the only remaining undefeated side in the league.

Beuglehall acknowledged the challenge ahead but says the group will rally behind this season’s import in Kavione Green, who goes up against his old side.

“These guys are the benchmark of our league, so we’ll need everyone to step up and be ready to match it with their quality of basketball

“There’s obviously an extra level of meaning for us playing Wyndham, with Kavione going against his old side, a team he played with for two seasons and won a championship.

“So we’ll be aiming for a win for him as well as a win for us.”

Green has dominated this season averaging 24 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists.

New Storm member in Nick Velasquez has also flourished with his new club, ranking second in the team for scoring with 12 points per game and third in the team for assists with 2.4 per game.

Beuglehall also had praise for players Nathan Gronbeck, Lewis Varley and Jamieson Hultgren for their positive starts to the season.
