Surf Coast FC Under 13s win grand final
SURF Coast FC Blue have triumphed in the Geelong Region Boys’ Under 13 league after defeating Lara United FC Scorchers 3-0 in the grand final.
Surf Coast FC had a comfortable season in the soccer league, winning 17 of their 18 games and only drawing one.
Coach Rob Casha said he was very pleased with his side.
“I’m very proud of how the boys handled the occasion, they very much deserved the win.
“They’ve worked hard all year trying to learn the roles of playing 11 versus 11 on the big pitch, and it all came out on Sunday. It was a very good and mature performance for 12-13 year olds.”
Their season got off to a strong start, as they defeated Drysdale SC 21-0.
Yet not all their games were so one-sided, and Lara did manage to get a 1-1 draw against them mid-season.
However, with a goal difference of 144, there is little doubt Surf Coast FC were deserving winners of the grand final and the league.
Surf Coast FC president Steve Christou said he was delighted to see the club’s junior players thriving.
“I’m very proud of the team and their coaches. They are an amazing bunch of kids that are great mates on and off the field.
“I’m looking forward to bigger and better things from this group.”
