WITH summer around the corner, the newest season of Surf Coast Little Athletics is now under way with a new leader at the helm.

Surf Coast Little Athletics welcomed hundreds of children back to Polwarth Oval for the first session on Saturday and it is already expected to be the organisation’s biggest season to date.

New Surf Coast Little Athletics president Jarrod McMullen said he and other local parents are ready for athletics to reach new heights on the Surf Coast.

“I’m excited to lead the club through this milestone season and see so many families come together to support their children’s athletic development,” McMullen said.

“Our focus remains on creating opportunities for all children in the Surf Coast region to enjoy athletics, improve their skills, and build confidence.”

A senior station officer at Fire Rescue Victoria and an accomplished marathon runner, McMullen took up the position of president earlier this year, bringing with him a passion for athletics.

With a record number of athletes expected, evidenced by the 200 children in attendance last weekend, the club continues to focus on fostering an inclusive, fun, and supportive environment.

McMullen’s two children, Darcie and Cohen, also attend Surf Coast Little Athletics this season.
