Surfcoast Basketball Association is launching a two-week competition beginning on Monday, November 30.

The competition has been quickly put together and is a continuation of its winter competition, with all junior teams automatically entered unless the association is told otherwise.

Newly elected president David Scott said this was a great opportunity to get people back out onto the court after a year that has seen so much basketball lost.

While he acknowledged it has come together quickly at rather short notice, Scott felt it was important to offer a competition like this to the community.

“In a tough year, to get the community back on court has been a key focus,” Scott said.

“It takes a bit of work to get together a two-week competition so quickly, but we think it will be well worth it to get everyone back involved.

“It was an opportunity to get the kids back on court… we’ve missed a lot of basketball action so our plan is to get them running around again.”

The competition will run Monday to Friday with matches beginning at 4pm and running until around 10pm.

Grades will start at under-10 level and run all the way through to under-23s. Surfcoast Basketball Association will utilise the two courts at Torquay College as well as the court at the Surf Coast Sport and Recreation Centre.

All players of any age and standard are welcome to get involved. Any further inquiries can be made by emailing [email protected].
