WEDNESDAY January 30 Stableford off the White Tees for the Men today. Three graded competition, with some high scores being posted throughout the day. A close encounter in A Grade, where a battle between the early birds was had. Daryl Kitchin (4) scored 39 points and just outlasted Graeme Altmann (6) on 38 points.
B Grade was also a close comp and led to some heart break. Steve Finnigan (13) was the leader of the morning field, and looked to be the winner on 42 points. However, an in-form Dale Allan (12) hit an inspiring round of 43 points in afternoon to take home the choccies. C Grade saw Terry Brown (23) post a c/b win over Leighton Bullock (21) with both gentlemen finishing their round on 39 points.
The ball pool ran down the line to 37 points, with Craig Rogers (5th hole) and Gavin Sheahan (13th hole) taking out the nearest to pins.
Thursday January 31 Red Tee Stableford for the Ladies competition today in tough, windy conditions. Maggie Juniper (32) adapted best to the conditions, finishing on 36 points. Joan Anderson (24) was the runner up on 35 points. The ball pool ran down the line to 34 points, with Susan Browne (5th hole) and Joan Anderson (13th hole) took home the nearest to pins.
Saturday February 2 Blue Tee Stableford for the Men today. 112 competitors hit the course for a three graded competition. A Grade saw the highest score of the day posted when Brian Gilligan (8) closed out his round on 42 points. Runner up was
Jason Cranny (9) on 38 points. Robert Foster (11) took out a highly contested B grade, finishing on 39 points, from runner up Tim Nunn (17) on 38 points. C Grade saw Brian Walsh (23) post the best score with 35 points, with Ray Chappell (23) close behind on 34 points. The ball pool ran down the line to 34 points, with Charlie Celi (5th hole, 3.04m), Alex Makkreel (7th hole, 1.20m), Allan Marsh (13th hole, 0.55m) & Mark Eccles (17th hole, 0.77m) taking home the nearest to pins. Tee Stableford for the Ladies today, a good chance to get a round in before Monday’s Challenge Cup. Jan Swain (18) took out a c/b win over runner up Christine Brackin (22) with both ladies finishing on 33 points. Sunday February 3 Stableford off the Blue & Red’s in today’s Medley. Warm conditions limited the competition to a field morning only. Michael Wait (18) was the winner with 38 points, closely followed by Simon Piasente (11) on 37 points.
