The Sands Torquay – July 5, 2018
WEDNESDAY June 27
Stableford Blue and White Tees today. Average weather today, but that didn’t stop a great turn out for the competition. Seventy-one entrants throughout today meant that the field was split into two grades. In A Grade, it was Pro Shop assistant and local wonder boy Riley Siketa [-3] finishing on top after countback, scoring 34 points. Shane McEachran [7] was the runner up on the day with 34 points. In B Grade it was another tight finish. Matthew Chalmers [22] won on a countback over Steve Finnigan [16], with both lads ending up on a great score of 36 points. Great to see the competitions becoming increasingly competitive over the colder months! The nearest to pins for the day went to Scott Rixon, who managed to get within 5.30m on the 5th and 2.68m on the 13th, earning him the title of Sharpshooter for today. The ball pool ran down the line to 30 points.
Thursday June 28
Ladies competition cancelled due to bad weather.

B Grade saw Paul Sexton [12] finish on the best score of the day with 39 points. Mike Fleming [15] was runner up with a great score of 36 points. In C Grade, it was Neil Trevena [26] blitzing the field with 36 points. George Richards [22] was second best with a score of 29 points. Nearest to pins on the day went to Donald Little, who showed the young whipper snappers how it’s done on the 5th hole (0.98m), Christopher Chapman on the 7th (3.00m), Timothy Jarman on the 13th (1.54m) and Philip Eltringham on the 17th (13.00m). The ball pool for the day ran down the line to 33 points.
Sunday July 1
Cold start to the day at the Sands, little wind which made for great conditions. Winner in the medley was Shane McGrath (9 ) with a great score of 35, runner up for the day was Josh Lancaster (+3), with a score of 34. Well done to both. The ball pool for the day ran down to 32 points.
