THE SANDS TORQUAY – May 30, 2019

WEDNESDAY May 22 – Stroke Medley (White and Yellow Tees). White and Gold Tee Stroke for the day’s competition. Weather was good, which was reflected in the scores for the day. In A Grade, Shane McEachran (6) won on a countback over Craig Rogers (11), with both competitors finishing up on Nett 70. B Grade saw the best score of the day courtesy of Gavin Sheahan (14), who walked off the course with a score of Nett 67 and the biggest grin you’ve ever seen. George Richards (24) was runner up on the day with Nett 69. The ball pool ran down the line to Nett 74, with Mike Trickey taking the mickey on the Par 3s and getting nearest top the pin on the 7th (2.5m) and 17th (1.8m).

Thursday May 23 – Silver Salver Foursomes (Red Tees). Silver Salver Foursomes off the Red Tees was on the agenda today for the ladies competition. Noelene Bray and Lynne Hyett smoked the competition, finishing on top with a score of 77.5. The nearest to pin on the 5th hole went to Mandee Trevena.

Saturday May 25 – 2 Person Medley Aggregate Stableford (Blue Tees) (Red Tees). Great conditions for the morning players then it turned in the afternoon as the wind got up and showers swept across the course. Alex McMahon [15] and Mark Eccles [5] teamed up nicely for a great score 74 points and the winner’s title, with Alex having a great day out with 41 points of his own. Chris Nunan [24] and Alan Henderson [23] were the clubhouse leaders after the morning field and ended up the runners up on the day with a score of 72 points. The nearest to pins on the day went to Shane Collins (5th), Alex McMahon (7th), Paul Sexton (13th) and Michael McAllum (17th), while the ball pool ran down the line to 67 points.

Sunday May 26 – Par Medley (Blue and Red Tees). Great morning conditions for the Sunday Medley where the majority of the field teed off, with the wind causing a bit of havoc around lunch time. The winner of today’s medley was Shane ‘Sunday Specialist’ Thompson [16] on +2. Runner up on the day was Steve Troon [16] on square, with the ball pool running down the line to -2.
