The Sands Torquay – October 11, 2018
WEDNESDAY October 3 Stroke off the Blue tees for the Men in a two graded competition. The sun was shining in the morning and through lunch time, but quickly turned into a shocking afternoon, with chilly, high winds and the sun disappearing. Mike Trickey [5] was the winner of A Grade, finishing up on Nett 71. Luke Muller [0] continued his run of hot form, closing out his round on Nett 73, enough for A Grade Runner-Up. In B Grade, it was the great Scotsman, Steve Finnigan [16] coming out on top with a score of Nett 70, outlasting Glen Lochhead [20] on Nett 72. The ball pool ran down the line to Nett 77, while Jim Demetrious (7th hole, 3.50m) and Gavin Sheahan (13th hole, 4.00m) took home the nearest to pins.
Thursday October 4 The ladies October Medal was played today with the competition as stroke. Strong winds were present for most of the day making scoring for the majority of the field very tough. NTP for the day went to Wendy Muller on the 5th hole and Marjorie Bayard on the 13th hole, the ball pool for the day went down to nett 79.
Saturday October 6 Perfect conditions for golf with no wind to speak of and the sun out for the whole day. The greens are starting to firm up and roll quicker than usual.
