COLAC coach David Boyce is happy with the Tigers’ progress despite their winless start to the GNL A grade season.

Following their bye, the Tigers host Grovedale at Central Reserve at 1.40pm tomorrow (Saturday, July 5) in Round 11.

The Tigers lost to top-ranked Newtown and Chilwell 72-39 in Round 9 and have been competitive in numerous encounters this season.

“We’re just looking at a rebuild year and development.

“So the last three weeks, we’ve made some really good in-roads in the way we want to play.

“Despite the score line, I was really pleased with the way we competed and the way that we stuck to our game plan.”

The new coach said several B grade players had come up to A grade this year, so the team was getting used to a lot of change.

“The key thing that we’re going to be looking forward to is seeing how we compete in the second half of the season, once we’ve got through all the games.

“Let’s see how we stack up now, coming up against some of those teams where the games have been close.”

Making sure that their goalers are in sync with each other and chasing down all the loose balls, are among the focuses for the game against Grovedale.

In other Saturday matches, Bell Park host Newtown & Chilwell while Geelong West have South Barwon.

St Mary’s welcome Leopold on Sunday while Lara and St Albans will battle on Saturday, July 12 when the other teams have a break.
