Tigers face Queenscliff after strong winning run
AFTER dropping its opening two games, Torquay has been flying with five wins in a row in the BNL A grade competition.
The fifth-placed Tigers have a huge home test against third-ranked Queenscliff tomorrow (Saturday, May 31) in Round 8.
Coach Sonia Harris shared insight into what had been working well during the winning streak.
“Following on from last year, we’re a pretty calm team,” she said.
“We tend to not get too wound up when it gets a bit too tight or if a call doesn’t go your way or you miss a shot.
“We just hunker down and work hard.”
Harris said the Coutas were a tough opponent that had bolstered their attack with Newtown and Chilwell recruit Alex Booker.

“It’s never easy against them and Jane’s (coach Jane Searle) always got them defending pretty hard and no ball will really come easy for us.
“So we’ll just stay focused on what we do well and you really need to back that in.”
Torquay is coming off a 45-40 triumph against Drysdale while the Coutas accounted for Portarlington 57-32 last weekend.
The Tigers’ Bridget Aughton, who switched from Colac for this season, returned to the court after having her appendix removed earlier this year.
“She’ll work her way in through our B grade side as well,” Harris said.
“We just want to give her a fair bit of court time.
“She’s a very welcome inclusion and she always adds to the team vibe and all the girls love her.”
