THE Torquay Boardriders Club (TBC) has achieved their best result at a national level, placing fourth at the 34th annual Kirra Teams Challenge at Duranbah, on the New South Wales/Queensland border.

Only weeks after placing a sixth at the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle, TBC once again headed north to challenge 36 of Australia’s best boardriding clubs.

Eight Bells Angels participated in the event, with each member competing in a standard four-man heat, the cumulative placings being used to determine the overall outcome of the event.

Cody Robinson and Xavier Huxtable represented TBC as Under 21 surfers, with Jack Perry, Nic Muscroft, Harry Mann, Troy Brooks, Cahill Bell-Warren and Todd Rosewall competing in the open division, with a total of four first placings, two seconds, a third and fourth across the three days of competition.

Leading the charge for TBC were Huxtable and Bell-Warren, both registering two wave totals over 18 points (out of a possible 20), landing themselves in the top three highest scores of the event.

Club co-coach Jack Perry said he was proud of the result.

“We have been training for this and the ABB for several months now. It is great to see all of our hard work paying off.

“Everyone rose to the occasion, competing against some incredible talent from the other clubs”.

“We had an amazing support network on the beach and are a really tight-knit group. Everyone had the same goal of putting the club ahead of our own personal performances.

“We are working hard to create a really united and committed culture within our club and are excited for the future of TBC with our incredible crop of juniors at the moment.”

The Kirrra Teams Challenge was won by North Narrabeen Boardriders Club for the first time in 34 attempts, with NASA (North Avalon Surfriders Association) in second and LeBa (Lennox Ballina Boardriders) in third place.

The TBC committee would like to thank those who represented the club in both the ABB and Kirra Teams Challenge, as well as everyone who was involved in the training and preparation for the events.

The club would also like to thank the greater club community and our generous club sponsors and supporters for their continued support.
