Torquay College quartet to take State Champs by storm
A QUARTET of Torquay College students will represent their school at the state level, after a plethora of successes at the Western Regional Cross Country Championships.
Torquay College sports co-ordinator Dan McLaughlan said four students had made it through the regional level and would compete at the state level later this month – a new school record.
Declan Farrar (1st), Jonathan Hudson (6th), Finn Vague (8th) and Archie Thomas (12th) qualified for the state championships.
“Getting four kids through to the state finals is an absolutely phenomenal effort,” McLaughlan said.
“We did a lot of training in Term 1 and Term 2, all the boys showed tremendous commitment and really pushed each other.
“It was awesome to see the boys support one another and get this result.”
All four boys will head to Yarra Valley Racing Club in Yarra Glen on July 13 to compete against the state’s best runners at the State Cross Country Primary and Secondary Championships.
