Torquay Cup races to aid food bank

ORGANISERS of the Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup are proud to announce Torquay Food Aid have been chosen as this year’s sponsored charity.

fundraiser for a local charity or organisation, and Torquay Food Aid volunteer Lois Gill said the organisation was overjoyed to be recognised in this way.

“Even though we have been functioning for “This support will probably give us the publicity we need to be able to reach many more people in the community who could use our help in a time of need.”

Ms Gill said the money will be used to purchase stock and reach out to more local residents who need food assistance. So far this year, the organisation has helped 50 people in the local community, which is a Surf Coast Times director Warick Brown said he was pleased to show assistance to such a worthy organisation.

“We’re really happy to be able to support Torquay Food Aid and show our immense appreciation of the work they do in serving our local community.

“We’re looking forward to another fantastic event and hope that we can raise a recordbreaking amount to donate this year.”

Surf Coast Times Torquay Cup is on May 20 at the Geelong Racing Club from 11.45am.
