Mulder announced as new Torquay Golf Club captain
JOHN Mulder was named the new captain of Torquay Golf Club at the club’s recent held 99th annual general meeting.
Mr Mulder takes over from Ross Duff, who has been captain for the past six years.
There will be little loss of continuity, as Mr Mulder has been a member of the club for nearly three decades.
He said he was pleased to be given the chance to add something to the thriving club.
“We get to enjoy a wonderful golfing experience here on the beautiful fairways by the coast because of the generous contribution of so many committee members and volunteers who have given so much to the club over the past 99 years.
“I have contributed very little previously due to work commitments but I am now in a position to give something back and I’m looking forward to playing my part.”
Mr Mulder takes on the role of captain at a key time for the club.
Torquay Golf Club has grown to be one of the biggest in the state, with more than 1,200 members. It will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in 2020.
Mr Mulder spent the past 10 years of his career as chief executive officer of Bendigo Health, and was previously deputy chief executive officer of Barwon Health.
