TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – April 04, 2019

TUESDAY – The ladies held their Guest Day. The game was 4BBB Stableford. Our winning team of Joan Thomson and Judith Mather (East Geelong Gc) had 47 points.

Runners up Sylvia Peck and Colleen Cogger (Ocean Grove GC) also had 47 points and third Viv Nicol and Di Webb-Smith (Curlewis GC) with 46 points. NTPs Stefi Bates, Lesley Grebe, Sandi Kennedy, Val McGann and Jenni Cottrill hit the jackpot. Thank you to the ladies committee for organising a great day. Lunch was enjoyed by all and shopping in the golf shop was then the order of the day. The girls were happy to spend their winning gift cards on our specials!

Wednesday – Jayson Moran shot 42 points to take out A Grade 42 points. B Grade winner Warren Gaunt had 40 points. C Grade went to Gary Kerr with 41 points and D Grade Nathan Papworth 42 points. Don Jennings won the resort competition 45 points. Super 6 winners blue tees Bill Fitzpatrick, 16 points and Green tees James Wood, 18 points. NTPs James Wood, Jayson Moran, Nathan Papworth, John Brunt, Michael Lunney and Bill Higgins hit the jackpot.

Friday – the morning field headed out in rain and wind for our mixed competition, some had already cancelled, others started then quickly made it back to the dry of the clubhouse. By mid-morning the rain had cleared, and the sun came out. The temperature was extremely cold and wet weather pants and jackets were the order of the day. There were only two ladies out today as most of our girls are off representing their club in another year of pennant. Good luck to all off our teams for 2019. Paul Brunt was out early and posted the best score for A Grade 41 points. B Grade went to Reg Costin 40 points. NTPs Paul Brunt, Rodger Thomas and Peter Rees the jackpot.

Saturday – numbers were down for the men due to the weather and football, so we only had two Grades. Paul Palimaka still in good form shot another good round of +4 to take out A Grade. B Grade went to Barry Grigg with +3. Resort winner Mark Rosewall +5. Anne Staig had -2 to win the ladies. NTPs Trevor Doolan, Garry Fletcher, Cheryl Brunt, Bill Fitzpatrick, Dean Pearce, Ward Szymczak and Dean Pearce hit the jackpot. Sunday – was a mixed competition and Bern Farrelly had 42 to take the honors. NTPs Christine Wilson, Bern Farrelly, Lester Oldham, Peter Rees the jackpot. Pro Shop this week we have some Greg Norman ladies’ polos on special for only $49 – we have not forgotten about the men with Clique logo polos $39.

LESSONS – Darrell Brown is holding some clinics this coming month they are great value but get in quick as there are limited spots. Kel Llewellyn is available for lessons by appointment, please call the golf shop for more details.
