TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – April 18, 2019

TUESDAY April 9
The ladies held the qualifying round for the Rene Austin Brooch, which is a GSW Foursomes game played every year the qualifying pair go onto compete in the final round to be played at Sanctuary Lakes GC. Our winning team was Kathy Simson
and Lyndsey Dunstan with 34 points good luck to both girls for the final Runners Up Margot Bradley and Diane Liley on 33 points. Resort winners Valma Davis and Norma Veale had 34 points. NTPs Heather Wemyss-Smith and Diane Liley.

Wednesday April 10
The men played stableford. A grade went to Ron Haeberle with 41 points. B grade winner Eric Black shot 42 points. C grade was won by Michael Brady on 37 points and D grade went to Vin Cooney 41 points. Resort winner was James Wood with 40 points. Super 6 winners Blue tees Bill Innes 17 points and Green tees Alan Douglas 16 points. Guest winner Scott Weston had 35 points. NTPs Brian Brown, Michael Naughton, Wayne Barrett, Terry Lee, David Strickland and Peter Wills hit the jackpot.

Friday April 12
Scores were high for the day with 11 players shooting 38 points or higher the ball run down went to 36 points. Brian Baranski had a great round off his 11 handicap he shot 43 points to win A grade. B grade went to Brian Powell who had the score of the day 45 points. Marg Joyner had 32 points to take out the ladies and Ian Matthison was our guest winner scoring 31 points. NTPs Deb Shoesmith, Mary Sweet, Jayson Moran, Peter Garland and Joe Magliano hit the jackpot.

Saturday April 13
Was our Black tee challenge or Blue tee if you prefer! Blue tee winner Callum Yates who is one of our very impressive up and coming juniors shot an impressive 44 points to take out A grade. B grade went to Trevor Carter with 40 points. Black tee winner Justin Baker shot 43 points and B grade was won by Greg Bradley with 42 points. 3 Eagles were scored off the Black tees today by Damien Harrington, John Calnin 18th and Kevin O’Neill 11th, the Blue tees Tony Cosgrave 11th. Alan Douglas took out the Resort competition with 41 points and our ladies’ winner was Di Roberts on 33 points. Ian Wiseman (Geelong GC) took out the guest win with 35 points. NTPs Wendy Poyner, Eleanor Douglas, Ross Forbes, Callum Yates, Herb Hertaeg, Rodger Thomas, Trevor Carter and John Brunt once again hit the jackpot.

Sunday April 14
We had a mixed competition and taking out A grade was Brendan Ryan with 40 points. B grade winner Peter Cannon had 38 points. NTPs Chris Timonowic, Chris Smith and Dean Smith hit the jackpot. Vets/Seniors will be held on the 27th of May, the time sheet is open now for this member only event each month. Times always fill quickly for Bob’s day as it is commonly known here at the club!
