Torquay Golf Club – August 30, 2018

TUESDAY a strong field of ladies headed out for the stableford competition and, just back from holidays, Cheryl Mostyn found some good from to take out A Grade with 36 points. B Grade winner Robyne Westacott shot 37 points and C Grade went to Gwen Hand 32 points.

Rosie Jones won the Resort with 20 points and our 9-hole competition winner was Judy Dickie 15 points. Super 6 winners Red tees Lyndsey Dunstan 14 points and Green tees Rosie Jones 8 points. NTPs Lesley Grebe, Judy Sceney, Sue Booth, Kaylene Potter, Barbara Young-Harding and Heather Weymess-Smith hit the jackpot.

Wednesday our men played stroke and scores were impressive for winter golf. A Grade went to Kevin O’Neil with 66. B Grade winner Paul Cousins shot 70 and Rex Hutchins had 69 to take out C Grade. Henry Kelly was our Resort winner scoring 41 points.

NTPs Peter Orwin Ken McCallum, Joe Magliano, Alec Hand, Graham Travers and Wayne Nitschke hit the jackpot.

Friday was a busy day with members and visitors alike all taking to the course for what was a beautiful sunny day. Making the most of the weather was A Grade winner Andy Clark with 38 points. B Grade winner Ken Ballard was out early enjoying the sunshine and scored 37 points. Junior talent Emma Pearce won the ladies with 40 points, great to see one of our juniors playing on a Friday and Runner up Ronnie Beacom also shot 40 points. Guest winner David Crawford scored 41 points. NTPs Greg Jones, Emma Pearce, Ken Ballard and John Corcoran won the jackpot.

Saturday the Cats played at GMHBA Stadium in their last home game before the finals and won. Go Cats!

Usually when the Cats play, our field is small but today 169 players headed out in the warm sunny weather.

Dave Kilmartin shot 38 points to win A Grade. Hugh Thompson had an impressive 45 points to take out B Grade and C Grade winner John Burton had 38 points. Sue Booth was our lady’s winner scoring 37 points. Resort winner Ross Forbes had 37 points. Guest winners John Woodward 40 points and Andrea Heffernan 33 points. Super 6 winners Blue tees: Marty Stewart 15 points Red tees: Sue Booth 15 points and Green tees: Ross Forbes 15 points. NTPs Adam Noble, John Corcoran, Roy Ball, John Woodward, Ronnie Beacom, Jill Chick, Jayson Moran and Ken Munro hit the jackpot.

Sunday Men’s A Grade B. Dyer 42 points, B Grade R Beltrame 41 points. Ladies C Branch 34 points, NTPs 3rd I Oliver for the Ladies, B Thomas 15th, A Cations 17th, Jackpot T Carter.
