TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – February 7, 2019

TUESDAY the ladies played stableford today and A Grade winner Joye Burton had 40 points. B Grade went to Anne Milligan also with 40 points and C Grade was taken out by Lesley Thornton on 39 points. Resort winner Monica Spencer shot 35 points. NTPs Helen Bloink, Kathy Simson, Lyndsey Dunstan, Anne Milligan, Jenni Cottrill and Lynne Downes hit the jackpot.

Wednesday the men also played stableford and with the score of the day 42 points Gary Watson won A Grade. B Grade winner Graham Jennings shot 40 points. C Grade went to Greg Brinsmead also with 40 points and D Grade was won by Lester Oldham 41 points. Terry Lyons won the Resort competition with 40 points. NTPs Graeme Sharp, David Dodd, Steve Menegazzo, Greg Touzel and Geoff Grayling  hit the Jackpot Congratulations to Garry Smith scoring a Hole in one on the 15th.

Friday in warm sunny conditions we had a stableford competition and scoring has been easy for some on our beautiful golf course. The course is in great condition considering we have had no rain to speak of for a month. Thanks to the work of our ground staff in maintaining it under  such harsh summer temperatures. Men’s A Grade winner Brian Baranski shot 38 points. B Grade winner Steve May had the score of the day with 42 points and our C Grade winner Ken Allan had 37 points. Chris Rudd took out the ladies with 35 points and guest winner Denis Dalton (Heidelberg GC) shot 39 points. NTPs Deb Shoesmith, Margot Bradley, Garry Fletcher, Gary Gemmola and Clive Smith took out the jackpot.

Saturday was another beautiful golf day and monthly medal was up for grabs for both the men and the ladies. Gary Watson had a fabulous day on the course taking out the A Grade win, the medal and the jackpot win all with his fabulous score of 64. B Grade winner Greg Baeck shot 66.

C Grade went to Graham Travers with 68 and our D Grade winner Darren Gibbons had 66.

Ronnie Beacom took out the ladies with 70 and Resort winner Doug McGregor shot 41 points.

Guest winner Ivan Rados (RiversdaleGC) had 67 points. NTPs Lyn Brady, Ronnie Beacom, Dean Pearce, Barry Grigg, Doug McGregor, Ed Robertson, Brendan Inglis and as earlier reported Gary Watson hit the jackpot.

Sunday, we had a morning competition and an afternoon member opening day shotgun start. The morning players looked hot and bothered by the time they finished as the cooler sea breeze did not  kick in until about 1.30pm. The morning men’s winner was Guy Gartung with 41 points.

Opening day winners were A Grade Jarrod Young 40 points. B Grade David Peterson 41 points. Ladies winner Vicki Rossiter 39 points. NTPS’s Dee Matheson, Ron Fish, Robin Jeffries, Matheson hit the jackpot.
