TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – July 25, 2019

Tuesday July 16 – the ladies all played off our Green Resort tees for a change and although conditions were not that favorable there were some good scores posted. A grade winner Judy Bell had 37 points. B grade went to Anne Staig with 40 points and C grade was taken out by Lesley Thornton 29 points. Our 9-hole Resort winner Sally Torney won with 14 points. NTPs Sue Barnes Diane Liley, Anne Staig Chris Rudd and Kathy Simson won the jackpot.

Wednesday July 17 – A grade winner Robert Muffet shot 35 points. B grade went to John Batters also with 35 points and C grade was won by Reno Beltrame with the score of the day 38 points. Philip Smith took out the Resort win scoring 38 points. Super six mystery winners Blue tees John Batters 15 points, Green tees Ray Frost 15 points. NTPs John Burton, Greg Brinsmead, Daryl Moss, Brian Makin, Paul Walters and Joe Magliano hit the jackpot.

Friday July 19 – the weather turned for the better as our golfers headed out for their round. Friday competitions are becoming one of our popular days now and there are even a few ladies that love their Friday golf as well, so remember there is a separate ladies competition Friday but Sunday is now a mixed comp. A grade men’s winner Bernie Hallinan had the score of the day with 44 points and B grade went to Warren Gaunt shooting 42 points. Wanda Paterson had a good round shooting 36 points to win for the ladies. Guest Wayne O’Neill had 40 points. NTPs Garry Smith, Inge Oliver, John Nestor and Barry Machin won the jackpot.

Saturday July 20 – we had our black tee challenge and for those that were not up to it there was the Blue tee competition as usual. The morning started off sunny with light winds but by 10.30 the strong Northerly wind blew in causing scoring to become extremely difficult, so scores were a little lower this week. However, with such strong winds some scores were amazing! Black tee A grade winner Rick McNamara shot -1. B grade was taken out by Peter Oliver with +1. Blue tees A grade winner Martin Cassar had +1. B grade winner Ron Fish was out early and posted +2. Nick Brady who had the score of the day +5 which was very impressive in those conditions was our C grade champion. NTPs Andrew Spicer, Gary Taylor, Ron Fish and Greg Libbis hit the jackpot. Congratulations to Michael Mckinnon scoring a Hole in One on the 12th.

Sunday July 21 – taking out our mixed comp. was Jonathon Scholes with 37 points. Guest Winner Guerlain Appriou (Cape Schanck) had 41 points. NTPs John Szczepanik, Hayden Torney and we had joint winners for the jackpot pin Bill Bond and Noel Ryan.
