TORQUAY GOLF CLUB – May 02, 2019

Tuesday April 23 – After the Easter long weekend the ladies settled back into golf with a 4BBB Par event. The winning team for A grade was Mandy Buckley and Wendy Lawson with a +8 and Runners up Michele Hayes and Inge Oliver +7. B grade winners were sisters Gail Rooney and Anne Staig with apparently no arguments along the way they shot an impressive +9. Runners up also with +9 were Anne Milligan and Sue Hehir. NTPs Jenni Boyce, Claire Dowley, Lesley Thornton, Dee Matheson and Mary Sweet hit the jackpot.

Wednesday April 24 – David Dodd had a great round scoring +5 to win for A grade. B grade went to Max Simpson with +3. Peter Mahoney had the score of the day +7 to win C grade and D grade winner Ray Rashleigh shot +5. Paul Walters had
Eagle on the 18th but even more impressive was an Albatross shot by Max Simpson on the same hole. The Resort win went to Alec Hand who had a great round shooting +6. NTPs Sam Coleman, Don Jennings, David Dodd, Paul Walters, Steve Stadler and John Anderson hit the jackpot.

Thursday April 25 – Anzac Day we remembered and paid our respects to those who have fallen in war. In the afternoon we had our Annual Legacy shotgun start, as per tradition we do not have any competitions in the morning. We had a full field of 120 players all vying for the great prizes on offer. Of course, the main aim of the day was to raise much needed funds for Geelong Legacy. Our winners were David Rossiter with 43 points and Sue Booth 35 points. The Gordon Hepburn Memorial Trophy (returned servicemen) was won by a very emotional and thrilled Dennis Abbey with 34 points. Once again thank you to John and Joye Burton for organizing such a great day. NTPs Mervyn Cornelius, Paul Walters, Nathan Edwards, Mark Rosewall, Marion Young, Judith Bullock, Kaylene Potter and Gwen Hand.

Friday April 26 – John Potter shot 40 points to take out A grade. B grade was won by Brian Powell with 42 points. Deb Shoesmith won the ladies with 30 points. NTPs Wayne Olney, Simon Strahan, Andrea Scammell, Wanda Paterson and Wayne Olney hit the jackpot.

Saturday April 27 – Michael McKinnon had 42 points to win for A grade. B grade winner Eric Black shot 40 points. Peter Mahoney was C grade winner with 41 points and D grade went to Darryl Coulter 40 points. Lyn Brady was our lady’s winner with 33 points and the Resort win went to Ross Forbes on 40 points. Three eagles were scored today all on the 1st hole, John Laidlaw, Max Simpson Paul Palimaka. and NTPs Lyn Brady, Cheryl Brunt, Ross Forbes, Steve Grayson, Darryl Stevenson, Trevor Doolan, Geoff Lamont and Wes Bumpstead the jackpot.

Sunday April 28 – Jim Fraser won our competition winner scoring 42 points from Wayne Olney who shot 39 points. NTPs John Bishop, Wayne Olney and Ray Morgan the jackpot.
